IPL: Check out the three teams who will be looking for a captain in the IPL 2023 auction.

Here are the three teams who will be eager to get a captain in IPL 2023 Auction

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be scrambling to find a skipper in the upcoming IPL 2023 Auction in Kochi after releasing their longtime captain Kane Williamson. In addition to SRH, Chennai Super Kings will also be looking for a potential captaincy candidate. MS Dhoni’s final IPL for the men in yellow is expected to take place this year, as Ravindra Jadeja’s trial run last year was unsuccessful.

Once Faf du Plessis leaves, Royal Challengers Bangalore may be enticed to appoint players like Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson, or Joe Root to take over the leadership position.

Who will SRH Target?

Kane Williamson, the Orange Army’s captain, was let go before the IPL mini-auction. SRH has 42.25 crore INR in its bank account. In the upcoming auction, they will probably focus on Ben Stokes to be the team’s captain. Aiden Markram might also be appointed captain by SRH. In the upcoming inaugural season of the SA20 League, Markram may also serve as the captain of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape but If we see the purse of SRH they could go all out for Ben Stokes and could also end up buying him in the auction.

CSK can target Kane Williamson?

The Yellow Army could be considering making a move to sign a player who can take the helm of the four-time IPL champions in the near future since MS Dhoni is expected to play his final IPL season. Once Dhoni leaves the IPL, the CSK team management may want to hire New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and give him the reins as captain. It should be noted that CSK has INR 20.45 crore available, therefore the Yellow Army may need to spend a sizeable sum to secure Williamson in the auction.

Who RCB will target?

Faf du Plessis has been selected as RCB’s new captain after Virat Kohli announced his resignation as captain. Under Du Plessis, the Red Army made it to the elimination round the previous year but was unable to win the IPL championship. After the 2019 season, his participation in the IPL is unlikely to continue. In order to replace the leadership position, RCB must prepare in advance and may target some senior players in the auction. It should be noted that Kohli previously declared he would no longer be in charge of the Red Army. RCB can still go for Joe Root as he will bring experience in the side as well.
