Three Reasons Why Joe Root Will Warm The Bench Whole Season Of IPL 2023

Joe Root was signed by Rajasthan Royals at a base price of Rs. 1 Crore at the IPL 2023 auction.

He was initially unsold but later entered an accelerated auction. A player was registered with a base price of Rs. For 1 Crore, no team submitted a bid. The Rajasthan Royals were the only team to bid for the replay.

His last appearance for England in the T20I was in May 2019. Look at the three reasons why Joe Root Will Warm The Bench Whole Season Of IPL 2023-

1- NOT AN IDEAL T20 BATTER

Joe Root will struggle to make the playing XI due to his strike rate in T20s being less than 130.00. Additionally, Rajasthan Royals will not look to harm their playing XI, which will consist of four overseas players with a lot of firepower and variety.

For the record, Root’s strike rate in 2015 and 2016 was in the 140-145 range. However, in 2017, the figure was reduced to 102.14. In 2018, his strike rate increased to 125.71, but his batting average dropped to 14.67.

Root scored 106 runs in four T20Is for England in 2019, with a strike rate of 111.58. On May 5, 2019, he scored 47 runs off 42 balls in his last T20I innings against Pakistan.

2- 4 Oversees Players Confirmed

Jos Buttler, Trent Boult, Obed McCoy, and Shimron Hetmyer are the most likely four overseas players for Rajasthan Royals, making the case for Joe Root to play in the eleven appear weak; he will have to wait or warm the bench for the entire season.

3- TOO MANY BATTING OPTIONS

The Rajasthan Royals have plenty of batters in their lineup, and their domestic players have higher strike rates than Joe Root in T20 cricket, making it difficult for him to make the team. Joe Root can bowl off-spin as well, but RR already has some excellent spinners in their lineup.
